Clinical staff are available for appointments year round. Clinical faculty see patients during the academic year while supporting the education and clinical development of audiology doctoral students.

Clinical Staff

Dr. Katherine Audet received both her Bachelor of Arts in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences and clinical Doctorate of Audiology from the University of Connecticut. Her clinical interests include diagnostic hearing evaluations, hearing aid fitting and troubleshooting, and adult aural rehabilitation. She holds state licensure in Connecticut, is a fellow of the Connecticut Academy of Audiology, as well as the the American Academy of Audiology, and holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech, Language, and Hearing Association.

Clinical Staff

Dr. Noelle Davis received her Bachelor of Arts in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences from the University of Connecticut. She graduated with her clinical Doctorate of Audiology from the University of Connecticut in 2018. Noelle specializes in the diagnostic evaluation and non-medical management of hearing loss in pediatric and adult populations. Her clinical interests include hearing aids and adult aural rehabilitation. She holds state licensure in Connecticut, is a fellow and the acting treasurer of the Connecticut American Academy of Audiology, and holds her Certificate of Clinical Competency from the American Speech, Language, and Hearing Association.

Clinical Faculty

Dr. Thomas Hinchey earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Central Connecticut State University in 1994.  He has more than a decade of work experience outside the field of audiology that includes various industries, while serving in various roles such as large-scale manufacturing, project management, account management and custom software design and support. He found his passion for the helping professions and entered Towson University in 2003 where he earned his B.S. in Communication Sciences and Disorders (2005) and his Au.D. (2009). 

Dr. Hinchey is Certified by the American Board of Audiology. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology (AAA) and the acting president of the Connecticut Academy of Audiology. He is certified by the American Speech Language and Hearing Association (ASHA). He earned his Audiology Preceptor Certificate from the American Board of Audiology and has earned multiple scholar awards for continuing education from both ASHA and AAA. 

Dr. Hinchey has provided care in a private practice and a multi-physician otolaryngology practice. His clinical interests include clinical education, adult assessment, amplification and aural rehabilitation, vestibular assessment and rehabilitation, professional issues, and practice management. His research interests include understanding the neural representation of speech sounds to develop improved rehabilitation methods that facilitate speech perception in impaired auditory pathways. 

As a member of the faculty, Dr. Hinchey is harnessing his passion for his profession and aspires to educate and inspire future audiologists so they will provide patient centered care, actively engage with their professional organizations, and nurture the habits of lifelong learning.

Clinical Faculty, Clinic Director

Nancy C. McMahon, Au.D., CCC-A, is the Clinic Director of the UConn Speech and Hearing Clinic.  She is also the Director of Clinical Education in the Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences.  She received her undergraduate and graduate degree from the University of Connecticut, and her Doctorate of Audiology from Central Michigan University. Dr. McMahon has been a licensed and practicing audiologist since 1985. Her diagnostic expertise and experience with hearing aids is respected and valued by the medical professionals and patients who have worked with her over the years. Dr. McMahon is a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology and the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association. She currently serves as the Vice President of Legislative Affairs for the Connecticut Academy of Audiology.  In addition to being a clinical professor at the University of Connecticut, she volunteers on multiple professional boards at the national and state levels. Dr. McMahon specializes in the business of audiology, diagnostics, amplification, and aural rehabilitation. 

Clinical Faculty

Dr. Christine Haines has been employed as an Audiologist at the UConn Speech & Hearing Clinic since 1998 after receiving her master's degree from UCONN the year before.  She completed her Clinical Doctorate from AT Stills University, Arizona School of Health Sciences and joined the academic faculty in 2011.  Her clinical areas of interest are hearing conservation and hearing loss treatment in adults.   

Clinical Faculty

Dr. Yanaway obtained her undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of Connecticut and her Doctor of Audiology at Arizona School of Health Sciences. She currently holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Her clinical interests are pediatric audiology, early intervention, educational audiology, Central Auditory Processing Disorders (CAPD), and cochlear implants. She serves on the CT Early Hearing Detection and Intervention taskforce and is a current co-chair. She is a member of the SLHS Clinical Education Committee and helps to coordinate off campus practicum for the audiology graduate students. She also serves on the AuD curriculum committee and the graduate admissions committee.
